Was wondering if anyone has any info on local Car Rallying in Kuwait.
I don't want to participate but happy to be a spectator. But the local clubs really never advertise. The new 2010 season should start around this time of the year.
Any info guys? Local RALLY dates etc?
I have managed to go to a few rallies in the past few years. But without info. Sometimes would see a local rally car around some workshops & ask the drivers about it. The last one was the Kuwait International Rally 2008 on the 6th Ring Road at the Kuwait Shooting Club. It is part of the Middle-East WRC Championship.
Any RALLY fans?

Hey Wyn, Well i am stage commander for the upcoming 2010 Kuwait International Rally, i was Super Start Marshal last year .. as far the local rally concerned it kicked of last Friday 16-10-2009 .. the next round is going to be on December. On the other hand, i assure that the kuwaiti media is ignorant when it comes to motorsport, i appreciate al-watan TV whom were the only one who cam and made a reportage about it last week. here is a link of group on facebook for KIR 2009, most of marshals are there. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6 ... 463&ref=tsthe kuwait motor sport site is not really helpfull when it comes to updates .. but i'll definitely keep you posted, i'd ask you to send me ur cellphone number so we can probably deploy u for the next Int'l rally as a marshal or post chief if you show some dedication

Hey Skyline... Sir, nothing is better then meeting you KIR 'stage commander' on the forum. And Skyline, thanks for offering me to be a Rally Marshal. Sure will be interested. As to my dedication, intrest & addiction to Car Rallying, it dates back to my childhood days. I am 'no' Rally Car driver nor can afford to own one. But love rallying to the core. I really wish I could put up some photos of some local Rallies I have been to, here in Kuwait. Some date back to about 7 to 8 years ago where Range Rovers & Celica's would blow up some dust. Sometimes not knowing when these Rallies are held, every Thursday would drive past the Flag Square in Kuwait City and check if there is some roar, dust, grumble & back/after-fire of the Rally cars - which is by the way pure 'music' to my ears. I can say I have some good old collection of local Kuwait rally photos & a nice collection of local Rally Car 'sounds' which I managed to record at some not-so-old rallies here and also some newer ones of some stages at the Kuwait Internation Rally 2008. I used to be and still a fan of 'Bin-Eidan' STS Racing from his early days when he used to race a Toyota Celica GTR (which was once owned by Didier Auriol). Now Eidan runs a STS/Al-Rashed Mitsubish EVO IX I think. Have lost track really because of the lack of info. I think it will be a good idea to put up some photos on flickr & youtube and send you guys a link. Will PM my number - please do keep us updated on Rallying in Kuwait. Feeling terrible I missed the one last week. Thanks Skyline

You're most welcome bro.. it seems that you are really in to it and i would like to deploy for one of the rally stages for sure, by the way last year i posted a thread looking for Marshals and no one seemed to be interested to join, except one of the readers was like i wanna shoot pictures ..!! okay, its just that sometimes people ask for activities and once its there they back off .. anyways its alrite, i'll definitely keep you posted for the upcoming local round. @ Pedro .. you were in bahrain back then .. on march ! or i just forget about you

Thanks Skyline - I am in as a Marshal; but you will need to test my arabic if its going to be a requirement. Sorry, did not get to read the post last year when you had requested for Marshals. You surely owe us the 'next' Rally date here in Kuwait. I think we should start a thread on which we can list some upcoming MOTORSPORTS Events in Kuwait. If you know of any, like some official 'Drag Racing, Go-Karts, ATV Racing, Harley Davidson Events' etc please keep us posted. I am not talking of illegal street racing etc. I can trust you are not in that circus. Seriously, there is some really, really good driving talent out here in Kuwait which I hope someday someone could tap into & nurture it. There is even good money to run professional teams. Rather then the brutal display on streets. But somehow even with so much money (sorry I am not talking it's with me) it's just not in the right direction. I am talking top serious rich car lovers & racing fans from the region who can afford to run F1 teams.

Arabic is not issue in the international rally, our post chief back then was German who had nothin to do with arabic. I am not talking of illegal street racing etc. I can trust you are not in that circus. If i may correct your info, the money is there but the culture of sponsoring is not there at all .. you've no idea how the drivers and team's struggle with that issue and over all without wasta they can't achieve it.

Cannot agree with you better Skyline. You are right the money is there but the culture of sponsoring is not there at all ... this is ground reality, though the super rich exist. Hope things will change for the good in the near future. There used to be a drag strip along the 6th Ring Road near drive-in cinemas & traffic test center; now taken away to build a mall or jamiya I think. So the boys now burn rubber on road around subhan etc! I am talking & thinking nothing new I guess.

They got a land in Arifjan to build a motorsport complex in it, but when that is gonna happen only god know's.

Is Arabic a requirement? I would like to attend this but if going to be in Arabic then I'd rather not waste anyone's time.

I'm guessing the date is not in your (or organizer's) control. In any case, I'm interested in the race to take photos, so was wondering if we (photographers) can get access to interesting areas. Thanks for the info, mate.
